A 36 year old woman is sentenced 180 days in jail for a theft scam she has been pulling since January. Authorities say that she has stolen over $1,800. She was caught on camera performing a return and refund with no customer present.

Phelps County Development Closes In On Goal
The Phelps County Development Corporation has announced that they have moved to within ten percent of achieving their goal for Prosperity Project Campaign. The project is a $3.5 million public-private economic initiative to address jobs and growth. The chair persons include Roger Allmand, Richard McClymont and Michelle High.
Nellie Cole Trust Donates More Than One Thousand Acres
Nebraska Childrens Home Society is the beneficiary of more than a thousand acres of Gosper County and Dawson County land donated by the Nellie Cole Trust. When the land is sold, money is put into the agency's earnings. Money earned will be about $235,000 per year. Total value of the donated land is more than four million dollars.
Deadline Nears For Incumbent Filing
The deadline is February 15 for incumbent officeholders to file for the May Primary election. Recent incumbent filings in Phelps County include Doug Simpson, Larry Gibbons and Troy Urbom for Holdrege City Council and Holdrege School Board members Mike Waller, Tim Gustafson, John Thorburn and Matt Allmand.
A New Library Director At Minden
Minden Jensen Memorial Library has announced that Jackie Webster of Alliance is their new library director. Ms. Webster has worked at libraries in Iowa, Arizona and Colorado as well as Nebraska. She will begin her duties on February 27.
Nebraska Power Rates Are Lower Than Average
The price that Nebraskans pay for their electricity is markedly lower than those paid in most other startes. Southern Nebraska Power provided figures which show than Nebraska pays 8.9 cents average per kilowatt hour compared to national average of 11.5 cents. Nebraska is lower than all neighboring states except for Wyoming.
A Big Week For Catholic Schools
The All Saints Catholic School and Little Saints Pre-school in Holdrege have had a busy week, celebrating Catholic Schools Week. Father Tom Lux, a guest on KUVR Wednesday, said that students have had a different theme each day this week. The school is in it's 11th year with 60 students. The school is open to students in grades K-4 of all denominations of faith.
